For the sample scarf I used 21. Knit 5 rows for garter st border. Row 1: K3, p1, *k1b, p1. Rep from * until 3 sts remain, k3. Row 2: K3, k1b, *p1, k1b. Rep from * until 3 sts remain, k3. Repeat Rows 1- 2 for pattern until desired length, you are near to running out of yarn, or you are bored :-) Knit 6 rows, bind off and weave in ends.
