Jim McNabb (JimMc) started his day at 10am Friday 22nd camped at the Scout camp track camp area. (Jim was rigged for the Desert) Big Kev (riordak Ranger) arrived at lunchtime Friday it was raining fairly consistently throughout the rest of Friday, a lot of chat about it and amongst other topics as I am sure if you know Jim what they would be. His knowledge of the bush, we were later blessed when Wayne (Vitaraman) in his zook arrived around 830pm. (still raining). Fairly noisy camp site, was 230am Saturday when the campers went to sleep. Jim and Big Kev woke around 6:00am Wayne around 6:30am Saturday, it had been raining on and off throughout the night. Breakfast discussion was all about track condition; Jim was saying after the tracks are graded they become a little slippery. So we packed up camp around 9am and proceeded to go to the meeting point for our trip. Yep you guessed it still raining. We meet up at Kurth Kiln waiting for the rest of the group, Jims’ Daughter Susan and her Partner, Martin and is Wife and daughter (BT50 Driver), Jason and Celia (JC_Cruiser), Chris(Cdolman1) and last but not least Brett(koenandaxton) We were all treated to a informative tour of the Kurth Kiln, by a wonderful older couple Alfred and Ursula Klink for about 30 minutes. The Kurth Kiln festival will be on the 17th April 2016. Jim gave the trip briefing; none of us knew what we were up for that morning with the rain and condition of the tracks. Anyways we headed off stopping at the cemetery to air down. Jim looked over our cars made a few very important suggestions one of which was we weren’t sure if any one needed to be winched, so Jim suggested we put the winch hook up higher on the bar. We were off heading to Blue range road nice and easy no issues was good for the first timers, stopped at the intersection of Blue Range road and Bunyip ridge Road and Bunyip Bridge track. (Jim tells me they rename the bloody thing every other week) we stopped here for lunch as we heard there was another group coming down Bunyip Ridge Track. A few of us went for a bit of a walk to see. Jim put the kettle on lovely coffee maker is our Jim. Well we got the all clear proceeded to head up Bunyip Ridge Trak was steep in a couple of places was as bad as we were expecting still plenty of grip. Then we got onto Black Snake Creek Rd that was grippy as well Jim with his Desert slicks on, was able to get up some muddy sections. Then we got onto Ash Landing Rd turned right into East Beenak Rd to Hunters Trak then onto Sec Trak then onto Hunters Rd left into Soldiers Rd, across the black at Gembrook-launching Place Rd continued on Soldiers Rd, Right onto Beenak Rd headed back to the Kiln. As Jim had stated in the trip it was an easy beginner trip but for those Beginners I think they gained so much knowledge and confidence from Jim and some of the more experienced Beginners. Was a really great trip and I am sure Jim will put up some Videos Kevin (riordak_ranger)
