Is he a hero, a villain, or just a madman? Today we’re diving into the bizarre history of Jack Ryder and his alter-ego, The Creeper. We never got to see his creepier side in the Arkham games even though I think a lot of us were expecting it. We’re comparing the cackling Silver Age origins from creator Steve Ditko and Don Segall (1968) with the gritty, body-horror jokerized reimagining from Steve Niles in the 2000s. I do think there might have been influence from the Batman Animated Series for this particular series, either way I personally prefer the later run. I will say if you are looking for more reading on Creeper, check out the Len run from the late 90s, it also paved the way for the 2000s series in many ways. I think it may be the best creeper content out there, but I know there are varied opinions. From experimental science and 'smart skin' to nanocell comic book technology and a laugh that literally causes pain discover how DC turned one of their weirdest characters into a terrifying nightmare and haunted my dreams for the next few days after recording and reading for this. New videos are out each week! Let me know what you prefer for Creeper’s origin and function in the DC universe. #comics #comicsexplained #thecreeper #DCcomics The Creeper, Jack Ryder, DC Comics, The Creeper 2006, Steve Ditko, Steve Niles, DC Universe Lore, Batman Villains, Superhero Origins, 30 Days of Night, Showcase 73, Beware the Creeper, Joker vs Creeper, Comic Book History, DC Reboots, Gotham City Lore.
