THE COAST OF ZAKYNTHOS

We traveled by boat from Zakynthos city, past Argassi, around Gerakas and into Laganas Bay. We stopped at the Marathonissi island, where there was a chance to swim. We rounded the southern tip of the island and saw the caves at Keri. The trip continued north along the west coast, past Limnionas, Porto Vromi, past the Agios Ioannis island and to Navagio (Shipwreck beach). We were there for an hour, landed and watched the wreck (MV Panagiotis), the beach, the cliffs around and all the people. Back in the boat, we rounded the northern tip of the island and came to the Blue Caves. Further south the east coast, past the port city of Agios Nicolaos, Mikris Gialos, Xyngi with sulfur-rich water, Alykes and all the way to Zakynthos town. Then the round trip of 8 hours was done. Vi reiste med båt fra Zakynthos by, forbi Argassi, rundt Gerakas og inn i Laganas-bukten. Vi stoppet ved Marathonissi-øyen, der det var anledning til å bade. Vi rundet sydspissen av øyen og fikk se grottene ved Keri. Turen fortsatte nordover langs vestkysten, forbi Limnionas, Porto Vromi, forbi Agios Ioannis-øyen og til Navagio (Shipwreck beach). Der var vi i vel en time, gikk i land og så på vraket (MV Panagiotis), stranden, klippene rundt og alle folkene. Tilbake i båten, vi rundet nordspissen av øyen og kom til De blå grottene (Blue Caves). Videre sørover østkysten, forbi havnebyen Agios Nicolaos, Mikris Gialos, Xyngi med svovelduftende vann, Alykes og helt til Zakynthos by. Da var rundturen på 8 timer gjort.
