Now that IKEA’s Matter devices are becoming more available in New Zealand, I’ve been testing several of them in a real home setup. In this video I take a look at the MYGGSPRAY motion sensor. Motion sensors are one of those smart home devices that quietly improve everyday automation, turning lights on when you walk through a space and helping a home respond automatically. This sensor uses traditional PIR motion detection rather than mmWave presence sensing. While mmWave has its place, PIR sensors are still simple, reliable and very energy efficient, making them ideal for things like hallways, entrances and outdoor lighting. We pair the sensor with Apple Home and then use it in a practical automation example. This is not a sponsored review.
