I had a quick chat with Evan Yao, co-founder of EngineAI, about their T800 humanoid robot. (Forgive the bad audio) When they initially launched, many thought it was AI or CGI, so they brought the physical robot to CES to prove it was real and to show what it can do. Evan mentioned the name was inspired by the strength of the T800, but Engine AI's mission is the opposite of the movie's plot. There is no T2 "Judgment Day" on their roadmap. Instead, their humanoid robot is built for real-world judgment calls across repetitive factory work, hazardous environments, industrial labor, and security applications.
