4K walking tour of San Luis Potosi, Mexico 🚷. San Luis, as its known, is the 12th largest city in Mexico with about 1.3 million people. I spent a few days there before heading into La Huasteca Potosina. The town is a little prettier than Aguascalientes but does not feel as big. I liked it slightly more, from an aesthetic standpoint, because it is a little greener. Although, Aguascalientes has more to do and a slightly larger feel. San Luis is not a huge tourist town but it does have one hostel, Sukha Hostel 🏩. The hostel is right town and close to everything. The main square in SLP called Plaza de Armas is a beautiful little area in the heart of downtown. It is right next to the cathedral and surrounds a lovely part of downtown with bars and restaurants. A little ways away, probably a 5 minute walk is the Jardin de San Francisco. This fantastic outdoor area is around the main bar area with street food and even more restaurants. Normally folks sit around this park and enjoy the scenery. Again, this is not a heavily frequented area by backpackers but there were a few at the Sukha hostel.
