Complications of Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) LSCS is a common surgical procedure, but like any surgery, it carries risks. Complications can be categorized into maternal and fetal/neonatal complications. Maternal Complications 1. Intraoperative Complications • Excessive bleeding (Postpartum Hemorrhage - PPH) • Injury to adjacent organs (bladder, bowel, ureters) • Anesthetic complications (reaction to spinal/epidural anesthesia) • Uterine rupture (especially in repeat C-sections) 2. Postoperative Complications • Infection (wound infection, endometritis) • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism • Delayed wound healing and dehiscence • Chronic pelvic pain and adhesions • Difficulty with future pregnancies (placenta previa, placenta accreta) Fetal/Neonatal Complications 1. Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) (due to delayed lung maturation) 2. Transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) 3. Birth trauma (accidental lacerations, fractures) 4. Low Apgar scores (due to anesthesia effects) 5. Increased risk of neonatal ICU admission Long-Term Risks • Increased risk of uterine rupture in future pregnancies • Fertility issues due to adhesions • Increased likelihood of repeat C-sections #LSCS #CesareanSection #CSection #PregnancyCare #MaternalHealth #Obstetrics #SurgicalBirth #BabyDelivery #HighRiskPregnancy #ObGyn #NeonatalCare #PostpartumRecovery #WomenHealth #MedicalSurgery #BirthComplications • Lower Segment Cesarean Section • Cesarean Delivery • C-Section Surgery • Maternal Complications • Neonatal Care • Obstetric Surgery • High-Risk Pregnancy • Postpartum Recovery • Uterine Incision • Surgical Birth • Pregnancy Complications • Placenta Previa • Birth Trauma • Anesthesia in Obstetrics • Emergency Cesarean
