Supreme Court Warns UP Government over Non-Compliance with Remission Directions

On 21st of April 2023, The Supreme Court expressed it's anguish over non-compliance of the Uttar Pradesh Government with it's directions regarding remission of prisoners facing life sentences. The Supreme Court noted that the UP Police consistently ignored these directions, and told the Counsel for Uttar Pradesh that they will summon the Directorate General of Police the next time such a situation arises.
