Two new captains took the field in Christchurch, and the visitors were no match for the Kiwi quicks. Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy reduced the Men in Green to 14/4 inside the powerplay. Jamieson picked up three wickets in his first spell of three overs, while Duffy bowled two overs during the field restrictions and bagged a wicket. Pakistan's new T20I captain, Agha Salman, tried to steady the ship with Khushdil Shah, and the duo added 46 runs for the fifth wicket. Salman perished trying to take on Ish Sodhi, and Khushdil soon followed him back to the pavilion. Jahandad Khan was the only other batter, apart from Salman (18) and Khushdil (32), who reached double figures. He made 17 runs off 17 balls. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 91 in 18.4 overs. Jamieson picked up three wickets, while Duffy registered career-best figures of 4/14 in 3.4 overs. Ish Sodhi took two wickets from his four overs, and Zak Foulkes claimed a solitary wicket as the Black Caps made light work of an inexperienced Pakistan batting line-up. In reply, Tim Seifert teed off, blazing his way to 44 off 29 balls to completely take the game away from the visitors. Finn Allen remained unbeaten on 29 off 17, while Tim Robinson was not out on 18 off 15 as the Kiwis chased down the 92-run target with 59 balls to spare. For the second T20I, Pakistan might want to bring on the experience of Haris Rauf in place of Mohammad Ali. On the other hand, New Zealand could bring in Jimmy Neesham into their playing XI in place of Zak Foulkes as his all-round prowess gives them flexibility. Can Pakistan bounce back and get off the mark in the series, or will New Zealand continue their dominant run at home? To find out, tune in at 5:45 AM IST & 1:15 PM Local Time for live coverage.
