Costs we paid: Special kingfish thali Rs 320, veg thali Rs 160 On a rainy day in late August, Maria, I and a friend went to bathe in a waterfall in Canacona taluka. The drive from Margao to Chaudi was so beautiful and the backs roads going to the waterfall had little traffic and were even more beautiful. Lined with forested ghats and rice paddies. It was raining heavily off and on. We could see the low clouds collecting on the peaks of the ghats. And when we reached the waterfall, the view was mesmerising and it felt amazing to bathe in it. This is the glories of the monsoon in Goa After the waterfall visit, we stopped on the street for chau and boje, but before going to Canacona, we had lunch at Mac C's restaurant in Cuncolim As it was raining we were cold and hungry, so we were delighted to see the fresh fish available Mac C is quite a large restaurant. They have an upstairs section also Maria had her usual veg thali and Lesley had special fish thali with kingfish The special fish thali had fried kingfish, pickle, gulab jamun, sol kari, salad, papor, batat bhaji, teesrio, ambot tik, prawn curry, roti and rice Maria’s veg thali had dal, chonnem, batat bhaji, salad, sol kari, sweet, curd, pickle, roti and papor Very good fish curry rice. The kingfish is perfectly fried. The teesrio is excellent. It seems they give either teesrio or kismur on alternate days. Ambot-tik was very nice. Very nice sol kari Maria's happy with her dal. Maria liked the batat bhaji also So far everything on the thali has been great Really enjoying our lunch. That too when it’s cold outside and rainy, you really enjoy hot food inside They came to ask if we want more rice or curry That was a lovely hot lunch on a rainy day and at very reasonable prices At Mac C's restaurant, the food on the whole was very nice We want to thank our viewers who recommended us to come to Mac C in Cuncolim because everything on the fish thali was wonderful. I want to make a special mention of the ambot-tik. It was a perfect example of authentic ambot-tik. Because many thali places where they serve ambot-tik, usually it’s quite boring but this was really superb. The fish curry was great. The kingfish was fried perfectly. The teesrio was delicious.
