Today, I’m going to explain how high insulin destroys the eyes. High blood sugar and high insulin can cause all sorts of eye problems! High blood sugar affects the retina, the nerve-rich tissue in the back of the eye. Diabetic retinopathy is a condition in which the tiny blood vessels in the eye leak, depriving the retina of blood flow. It is one of the leading causes of blindness. High insulin and high blood sugar can damage the macula. Diabetic macular edema is caused by leaking blood around the nerve tissue. This can also cause macular degeneration. Carotenoids and lutein in cruciferous vegetables can protect the macula, but you must first eliminate high-sugar foods and junk foods from the diet. High sugar and high insulin can affect the fluid of the eye, causing eye problems like dry eye and glaucoma. High blood sugar can also affect the lens of the eye, leading to cataracts. Changing your diet can reverse eye problems associated with high blood sugar and high insulin.
