A total hysterectomy removes the uterus and cervix, but you still have your ovaries (unless they were also removed, and you should be informed either way!). Now, if your ovaries are intact, natural menopause still happens, even though you can't have a "last period". Remember, the uterus doesn’t cause menopause—ovarian aging does. Without bleeding as a marker, how do you know if you’re entering perimenopause? Blood tests and symptoms. Your hormones, your ovaries, and your health are what count—not the presence of a uterus.
