In this video I change the front axle differential gear oil in my 2018 Subaru Forester Touring after never even checking it for almost 8 years and over 72k miles. The front axle differential fill plug is notoriously difficult to remove for the first time after the factory tightened it. Thanks to buying a ‪@Tektontools‬ 24" long, 1/2" socket extension, I had no problem getting the necessary leverage I needed using my Tekton 1/2" breaker bar to break the fill plug free. The long, solid extension provided brought the necessary force outside the confines of the Subaru Forester's passenger-side front wheel well! ‪@Tektontools‬ T-70 torx bit fit perfectly into the Subaru's front differential gear oil drain plug, too! draining the old, dirty factory gear oil, I filled the front axle differential with ‪@LucasOilProducts‬ Lucas Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Oil. This is a very high-quality synthetic gear oil and is perfect for limited-slip differentials without any additional additive required...it's already blended-in to this quality ‪@LucasOilProducts‬ product. I also find using a hand-pump is the easiest method to transfer the new gear oil directly from the quart bottle into the differential. Much easier than trying to tip those large quart bottles into the confined areas underneath or within engine compartments or wheel wells of most vehicles using those tiny cone cap nozzles...those rarely work due to the restricted spaces underneath a car.
