Langtang Valley Trek Day 3: Langtang Village - Kyanjin Gompa Day 3 of the Langtang Valley Trek was easily one of the most spectacular days so far. We left Langtang Village in the morning with the mountains towering above us and headed further up the valley toward the final settlement, Kyanjin Gompa. Compared to the previous days, today’s trek was shorter and a lot more relaxed, which meant we could really slow down and take in the scenery. The trail followed the wide glacial valley, crossing yak pastures, stone walls, and tiny clusters of lodges with snow-covered peaks rising in every direction. The higher we climbed, the more dramatic the landscape became. The forest had completely disappeared by this point, replaced by open alpine terrain and huge views of the surrounding Himalayan giants. At several points along the trail we stopped just to turn around and soak it all in. Along the way we passed mani walls, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and plenty of yaks grazing in the fields - a pretty good reminder that we were now deep in the Himalayas. After a few hours of trekking, the white buildings of Kyanjin Gompa finally came into view, sitting in the middle of the valley beneath some absolutely massive peaks. Reaching the final village felt incredible, not just because of the views, but because it meant we’d made it all the way to the top of the Langtang Valley. And honestly, the scenery here might just be the best of the entire trek.
