It's time to celebrate our 2025 Waco Under 40 honorees! Watch each week as we share one video from each honoree leading up to the celebration in November! Maverick Moore | Baylor University – Department of Film & Digital Media Next up, beginning as a skateboarding videographer, Maverick Moore is now an award-winning filmmaker who specializes in writing, directing, and editing narrative short films. Collectively, his recent narrative short films — “My Dinner with Werner” and “Shotgun” — have won over 60 awards (including jury and audience awards for “Best Picture”) and have been recognized by over 175 film festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Fantasia Film Festival and Oscar-qualifying festivals such as the Palm Springs International ShortFest, HollyShorts, Austin Film Festival, and more. Most recently, he was the editor of “Ado,” a short film directed by Sam Henderson and starring Jenifer Lewis. Maverick is a Senior Lecturer in the Film & Digital Media department at Baylor University, where he teaches classes related to short film production. Maverick has also served as a panelist, reviewer, and awards jury member for a variety of national film festivals and is the short film programmer for Waco Independent Film Festival (which is a role he has served since the start of the festival in 2016).
