Take the clean by sevens, two of the rest, Male and female, I’ve chosen the best. In seven days the rain will fall, Forty nights, I’ll flood it all— And Noah did just what He said, At six hundred years, the waters spread. Chorus: When the rain came pouring down, And the deep broke all around, God shut the door with His own hand, And mercy sailed above the land. While the world was washed away, Faith was kept, life would stay— Only Noah lived to see God’s promise ride the sea. Verse 2: With his sons and wives they went, Two by two the creatures entered in. Clean and unclean, bird and beast, Every kind from west to east. The fountains burst, the heavens cried, Rain fell hard, the waters climbed. The ark rose high above the ground, As hills and mountains all were drowned. Chorus: When the rain came pouring down, And the deep broke all around, God shut the door with His own hand, And mercy sailed above the land. While the world was washed away, Faith was kept, life would stay— Only Noah lived to see God’s promise ride the sea. Bridge: Breath of life was swept away, On the land none else would stay. Every hill was covered o’er, Fifteen cubits, nothing more. But inside the ark of grace, God preserved the human race. Though the waters ruled the days, One hundred fifty in their sway— Still God remembered faithfully The life He saved upon the sea.
