MUB students create Student Guide - a website for their international peers

Matthias Koch, currently a 6th-year student of English Division, felt a strong need to create the centralised hub of information for his international peers studying at the MUB during the turbulent times of the pandemic, both globally and specifically for students in Bialystok. What started as a small WhatsApp group eventually evolved into a comprehensive and full-fledged website - Student Guide. Student Guide - by students for students The website has evolved year after year, adapting to the changing needs of the student community and expanding its features. Today, Student Guide is more than just a repository of information; it's a dynamic tool that helps international students feel at home at the Medical University of Bialystok. It's a student-led initiative, brought to life by Matthias Koch and a dedicated team of volunteers who constantly update and improve the site. On Student Guide www.studentguide.umb.edu.pl, you can find all the necessary information, from administrative matters and course organization to tips on daily life in Poland. This makes it easy for international students to find answers to all their questions and navigate the university smoothly. Designed by the English Division students based on their own experiences and needs, the website is perfectly tailored to the realities of student life at the MUB. Its structure is clear, intuitive, and fully meets the needs of international students. On November 27, 2024, Matthias Koch presented the website's features to an audience at the MUB’s Aula Magna, emphasizing the team's dedication to its creation and ongoing updates. The Rector of the MUB, Professor Marcin Moniuszko, expressed his admiration for the students, commending their initiative, creativity, and hard work. He highlighted that the Student Guide is not only a valuable tool for students but also a shining example of the proactivity of English-speaking students, who have voluntarily taken on the task of creating a resource to support their entire community. "You are the best example of what an academia should be - passing knowledge on to the next generation. I thank you very much for your proactivity," added the Rector. Recognising the initiative rofessor Adrian Chabowski, Vice-Rector for Education, and Professor Tomasz Hryszko, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, also attended the event and expressed their delight at the students' initiative, its development, and the current state of the website. They expressed their hope that future generations of foreign students would continue this project. In recognition of their dedication, the Rector, Vice-Rector, and the Dean presented the project team members: Matthias Koch, Süleyman Furkan Ates, Julius Clauberg, Julia Alexandra Dawidowicz, Daniel Erdmann, David Scheimann, Esther Towolawi, Racheal Diyaolu, Ngoc Hoang Anh Than, Abisha Senthilkumar, Hassan Farooq Baig, Paulina Sophia Emanuela Koladzyn with diplomas and gifts.
