Mt Sneffels 14,150 ft above sea level one of Colorado's most beautiful 14ers this hike is from the Yankee Boy Basin Trailhead. I started just about half mile pass the summer trailhead at 5:00 am my truck could have made it a little further, but eventually road does because really difficult only for high clearance 4x4 vehicles, but there is a sing that warns you. I tried to run as much as possible up the road and made it to upper trailhead pretty quick, from here trail begins is only 1.2 miles to the summit. The skree gully uphill is easy on the lower part, but as you climb up is very loose and steep, there is no trail to find because it collapses under your feet. This might be the hardest part as far as effort goes, as you get higher if you stay to right side of gully rocks are bigger and terrain is easier to navigate. Lavender Col was a little easier to navigate although steeper just because rock was more stable, the upper part of the col was holding snow but nice boot line from previous hikers made it easy to climb. The V-Notch is got good exposure, but also has good holds even with thick winter gloves I felt comfortable. After that was an easy scramble the rest of the way luckily for me winds calmed down just enough for me to be able to enjoy the summit a few minutes. I made it to the summit just before 7:00am making it the third fastest 14er I ever climbed after Mt Sherman 1:05 hr and Quandary Peak. The views were truly amazing all the green to the east side and all the snow to the west not to mention all the beautiful mountain formations there. Coming down V-notch little tricky, but doable.... skree gully downhill was terrible fell down a few times. Made it back to my car at 7:45 am and was back in the town of Ouray with my family by 8:30 am to have breakfast. Filmed with: Insta360 ONE X and a 10ft selfie stick.
