Andlau, France | A Visit to a Medieval French Town

Andlau, a lovely small town in Eastern France, is a wonderful place to visit and spend an hour or two wandering around. The town, or commune, has been around for more than 1000 years and owes its existence to the Andlau Abbey in the center of the town. It's most well-known for the delicious wine that's grown in the region and the Medieval features throughout the town also make it quite an interesting and picturesque place to visit. Even though I visited Andlau in August there were hardly any other tourists around and I basically had the entire place to myself. With a population of just under 2,000 people it's a very quiet and peaceful place and it's nice to visit if you're looking to escape the tourist crowds of the towns nearby that are much busier.
