Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictments of 18 members of the “200/8 Block,” eight members of the “6 Block” crew and four members of the “Own Every Dollar, O.E.D crew, for six years of retaliatory violence. this included a spate of homicides and shootings in Washington Heights and In-wood. These groups are responsible for approximately 50 percent of shootings in Washington Heights and In-wood, which covers the 33rd and the 34th precinct, in 2024. The indictments allege an escalating pattern of violence since 2018, when a 6 Block member allegedly murdered a rival 200 member. Since then, the groups are allegedly responsible for a total of 18 shootings, during which seven people were killed, including four innocent bystanders. Members of 200 also committed two gunpoint robberies, one of which was fatal. The 18 defendants from the 200 crew are charged with Conspiracy in the Second Degree for coordinated violent conduct against 6 Block and other rivals; 11 are charged with Murder in the Second Degree. All eight 6 Block defendants are charged with Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree for possessing illegal firearms; one defendant is charged with Murder in the Second Degree; and five are charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. One defendant is charged with illegally trafficking firearms to 6 Block members, as well as selling 17 firearms to an undercover NYPD officer. That same defendant was arrested on a bus while illegally transporting four firearms from Ohio to Manhattan.
