As we embarked on a slow drive through the village of Groot Mier in the Kalahari, we couldn't help but be captivated by the simplicity and tranquility of this community. The dusty streets we travelled on, gave us a glimpse into the daily lives of its residents. One of the remarkable discoveries we made during our exploration was an unnamed salt pan that seemed to possess an otherworldly beauty. Fascinated by its charm, we decided to christen it the Groot Mier pan. As we continued, we spotted the Primary School, which is still in use today although it shows that it’s no longer in use on Google maps. We also saw one modest church building and a tent being used for another standing as symbols of faith.
