This video was produced as part of the European Research Council funded ADAPT project based at Royal Holloway, University of London. For more information about the project visit http://www.adaptTVhistory.org.uk This is a rush preview of material filmed as part of the ADAPT project's 16mm filming simulation. This material was shot at Royal Holloway, University of London on 13 May 2015. In this sequence we see the veteran film crew move out of doors with their interview subject. Against the challenges of a noisy environment - including a busy road and aircraft flying overhead - they film further material. One take has to be abandoned after a particularly noisy vehicle passes the filming location. Following this, members of the crew reflect on the challenges of filming on location. Director Ray Sutcliffe explains how the team assembled today compares to a typical location crew dispatched from Ealing by the BBC during the 1960s. David Whitson and John Adderley discuss the challenges of matching film stock, lenses and filters to changing weather conditions. Production assistant Alex Branson describes her role, while Ray Sutcliffe emphasises the importance of a PA to the smooth running of a location shoot.
