1542 Tracker topper 25 Evinrude rehabilitation.

My 25 1989 Evinrude mounted on a 2018 tracker topper 15. The Evinrude was a mess from college tries to get it to stay running. I purchased the boat motor and trailer for 2k even with knowledge the carb was the problem. Well I found a flooding condition was present and signs of engine running hot were present. The spark wires had no continuity and plugs were carbon clogged the electrical choke was in manual mode causing a flood running conditions. The thermostat was broken and I replaced it and the exhaust side engine gasket I replaced. The compression is at 115 on both cylinders. Water pump replacement was done. Got it running seemly well but flooded conditions after shutting down still present. I had carburetor rebuild check. Was ok but condition still present. I did also reset carburetor linkage for they were way off factory specs. My brain thought to pull the primer choke hose of the top of the carburetor and tap the starter and watched the fountains of youth flowing gasoline wholesale out of the hose. Ended up replacing the electric choke. Also I had to make up a trim bolt to get it to plane property. Now she runs like a 🏆 champ
