Scoring Rules :- 70 Points Driving License Trial System in Nepal For Two-Wheelers The following table is for Category A and Category K. The trial exam is divided into seven parts, totaling 100 points. Candidates for scooters and motorcycles must score at least 70 points to pass the trial exam. Interestingly enough, the new system has made “Figure-8” a bit easier. Trial Marks Marks Deduction Outright Fail Figure Eight 20 Touching boundary line up to two times (-5 each time) Touching the boundary line more than twice Wheels going outside the boundary line Entering from the wrong direction If the vehicle reverses at any time Speedbreaker 10 Engine turns off once (-5) Engine turns off more than once U-Turn 10 Failure to turn on indicator (-10) Touching boundary line Traffic Signal 15 Failure to follow traffic signal (-15) – Ramp 15 – Crossing the boundary (with/without stopping) Slipping more than 6-inch backward when moving forward Engine turns off more than once Garage Parking (L-Back) 20 – Touching the boundary line at any time If the vehicle moves forward more than once Behavior 10 Not checking on brake, tyre, and mirror before riding (-3) Not wearing seatbelts (-4) Rough riding (-3) – Total Marks 100 Understanding the 70% Rule for Passing the Motorcycle License Trial in Nepal (Category A) In this video, I explain the new 70% pass rule for the Nepal driving license trial. Even if you make mistakes in some sections, you can still pass as long as your overall performance is strong. This video covers all the important rules you must follow to complete each obstacle correctly and safely. ⸻ Rules Explained in This Video 1. ) The ‘8’ (Figure-8 Track) • Must enter the 8 smoothly and maintain balance • Cannot touch or cross the boundary lines • Cannot put your foot down • Must complete the full 8 in one continuous flow • Cannot stop unnecessarily or wobble too much • Going outside the track is not allowed ⸻ 2.) Narrow Plank (Single Bar Ride) • Must ride on top of the plank without touching the ground • Maintain straight balance throughout the plank • Cannot jump off the plank halfway • Cannot fall off suddenly • Must ride slowly and in control ⸻ 3.) U-Turn • Must stay inside the marked boundary • Cannot touch or cross the boundary line • Must complete the turn in one smooth motion • Foot cannot touch the ground • Should not reverse or stop unnaturally in the middle ⸻ 4.) Traffic Light Test • Must stop before the white stop-line on red • Cannot cross the line on red or yellow • Must move only when the green signal appears • Maintain lane while stopping and moving • No sudden throttle while starting ⸻ 5.) Speed Breaker Section • Must cross the bumps smoothly • Cannot lose balance or put foot down • Should not cross too fast or too slow • Must stay within the lane markings ⸻ 6.) Ramp Test (Inclined Start) • Stop properly at the stop mark on the ramp • Must start the bike without rolling backwards • Cannot stall the engine repeatedly • Cannot cross the boundary markings • Maintain full control during the climb ⸻ 7.) Behaviour & Observation • Helmet must be worn properly (with strap) • Must check mirrors before moving • Maintain proper lane discipline • Must follow the instructor’s signals • Ride smoothly without sudden acceleration • No unnecessary horn or harsh behaviour • Respectful and confident riding is expected ⸻ Overall, you need to maintain calm, confidence, and control throughout the trial.
