We "replaced" the counters by covering them with contact paper, changed the flooring using peel & stick tile, and covered the refrigerator and appliances with contact paper for a more vintage feel. It completely changed the look of the room, for under $200! I think these ideas could work really well for any style or decorating tastes (I know not everyone wants to live in a '50s diner like I do) ;) I honestly wish I made these changes the day we moved in!
