Their musical style stood out from other popular acts of the day during the peak of the britpop movement, with them taking greater influence from alternative rock and grunge music. Their signature sound is largely thanks to the distinctive and powerful vocals provided by lead singer Skin. The band released several studio albums and toured extensively during the early part of their career, with Skin becoming the first black British woman to headline Glastonbury in 1999. The group disbanded in the early 2000s to pursue other musical projects and solo careers, but reunited in 2010 and continue to release new music.
