Join me for a hike through Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park in Macon, Georgia! A brief history: The Ocmulgee Mounds site has been home to prehistoric Native American cultures for over ten millennia. The site includes an Earthlodge with an original floor dating back to 1015 C.E., a Trading Post Site, a Great Temple Mound, a Lesser Temple Mound, and a Funeral Mound. There are several trails criss-crossing throughout the 3,336 acre park, and one even leads up to the top of the Great Temple Mound, where you can see the Ocmulgee River and the city of Macon beyond. Ocmulgee Mounds NHP is truly a fascinating place, and you can feel the weight of thousands of years of culture as you follow the trails through to each location.
