The Tomb of Pharaoh’s Daughter is one of the most remarkable and mysterious ancient monuments in Jerusalem. Hidden in the heart of the Silwan neighborhood, just below the walls of the City of David, this monumental rock-cut tomb dates back almost 2,700 years, to the time of the kings of Judah. It is the only tomb in Jerusalem that still preserves its original pyramid-shaped top, a unique architectural element that has fascinated historians and archaeologists for generations. According to ancient Jewish tradition, the site may have been the burial place of the daughter of Pharaoh, the same woman who rescued the infant Moses from the Nile and later joined the people of Israel. Others believe it was the tomb of a Judean queen or a royal family member from the Kingdom of Judah. The structure itself, carved with extraordinary precision into the limestone cliff, testifies to the skill and power of ancient Jerusalem’s builders. I visited the site for the first time with Moti. To reach it, we walked through the narrow streets of Silwan, a Muslim neighborhood that today surrounds the ancient City of David. Unfortunately, the area is quite dirty, as many residents do not take care of the environment. It is sad to see such a unique and ancient place in this condition. Still, standing there in front of the tomb, I could feel the weight of history and imagine the people who once lived here thousands of years ago. The silence of the stone, the view over the Kidron Valley, and the memory of ancient Jerusalem all come together to create a deeply moving experience. Despite the neglect, the site remains one of the most impressive and authentic monuments from biblical times. #pharaohsdaughtertomb #jerusalem #silwan #cityofdavid #biblicalhistory #archaeology #ancientjerusalem #judeankingdom #israel #holyland #zahishaked #israeltourguide #צחישקד #ישראל #מדריךטיולים
