I want to update more Footnote 1: I want to draw a distinction between a trigger failing to resolve, and a trigger resolving but not having any effect. If a trigger with an additional condition doesn't meet that condition, it doesn't count as resolving. But if for example the Skilled Plainsman left the field before his trigger resolves, that trigger will still count as successfully resolved, even though it didn't actually affect the game state (couldn't put a buff counter on the specified ally because it left the field). Footnote 2: If a trigger with an additional condition has targets, those targets must be chosen regardless of if the condition is met or would be met. For example, if Plainsman said "When this ally enters the field, put a buff counter on target ally if you control a horse ally," you'd still have to choose a target even if you didn't or couldn't fulfill the condition of having a horse. This awkwardness is the reason why these effects tend to be templated without targeting. I made a video about this topic about Creative Shock, but that video is bad so don't watch it
