Every six months, I wake up with a knot in my stomache, afraid of what could come. I've been getting my eyes checked bi-yearly. It's because I have an enlarged optic nerve and other complications which put me at a high risk, most notably for Glaucoma whose diagnosis can result in blindness over time. My anxiety works in overdrive on those days. I'm fine. I'll be fine. The chances are so low. I'm young. But what happens when they tell me I'm not? What if they're wrong? What if they find out too late? I made this whole film as an odyssey through my fever dreams, anxieties, and fears, inspired by those anxious long nights spent playing first person video games and doom-scrolling through analog horror videos online. A trove old memories and archived government footage slowly became re-contextualized into something that resembles one of my barely-remembered nightmares. The anxiety of losing sight. The fear of forgetting how everything was. Of starting over. The fragments of memories I can't remember. The strange beauty in between it all. light sensitivity This is 'The Last Thing I Think I Saw'. A horror short film.
