About this video:- The Jethavanarama Stupa is a Buddhist monument located in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It is one of the largest stupas in the world and was built during the 3rd century AD by King Mahasena. The stupa was built on the site of the Mahavihara monastery, which was one of the most important centers of Buddhist learning in ancient Sri Lanka. The Jethavanarama Stupa stands at a height of 122 meters, making it the third tallest ancient structure in the world, after the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. The stupa is made of brick and clay and was originally covered in white plaster, which has since eroded away. The stupa has a circumference of 367 meters and a diameter of 122 meters. It is surrounded by a large courtyard and a brick wall, which encloses an area of about 8 hectares. The stupa was built to enshrine the relics of the Buddha and is considered to be one of the most sacred sites in Sri Lanka. Over the centuries, the Jethavanarama Stupa has undergone several renovations and restorations. It was partially destroyed by invaders in the 11th century and was later restored by King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. The stupa has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982 and continues to be an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world.
