All Talk and No Tech. Sort of. More like Tech-lite. Can't say we didn't warn you. This one is 90 minutes of pure Ham Radio punditry. If that turns you off, stay far, far away. On the other hand, if that's your cuppa joe, drink up. CQ Editor Rich Moseson W2VU, and HRN's Jeff Gary ask if REAL Ham Radio needs RF (all the time). Think Echolink, IRLP, D-STAR and QsoNet. Then we compare the current Chinese "invasion" of cheap VHF/UHF radios to what happened when Japan started shipping ham rigs to the US (and the world) around 1970. If you don't recall, the US manufacturers.... all of them... either quit, sold out, or just stopped making ham equipment. Finally the talk turns more digital as we ponder what Ham Radio will sound line (and look like) if we ever get really digital on HF. Remember "Regulation by Bandwidth"? We do (Rich remembers it better than Gary does). Gary even defends AM! Or at least makes their case, since no AMers were at the table.
