A test ride and first impressions of the Beta 125 RR Race Edition! A few months ago I had the opportunity to attend the Beta Motorcycles Factory Demo here in Southern California. While the Beta 125 RR and the 125 RR Race Edition variant were not on my list of bikes I wanted to test ride, the long lines on some of the more popular models forced me to take advantage of every opportunity to hop on a bike that I could get. I was very surprised by the Beta 125 RR Race Edition in both a good way and a bad way. The bad was that the bike felt pretty gutless in the first few gears. I come from a background of riding 4-stroke trail bikes and dirt bikes, so this low displacement 2-stroke dirt bike just felt awkward to me. However, once I got the bike out of the lower gears and up into the higher RPM power band, it ended up being an absolute blast to ring out around the remainder of the course.
