What are the advantages of Pressure-Enabled Drug Delivery (PEDD) in treating metastatic neuroendocrine tumors (NET)? Drs. Chris Beck and Zachary Berman dive into the physiology of PEDD, which leverages pressure modulation to optimize delivery. With lower distal pressure, drug redistribution favors tumor tissue, which cannot constrict to preserve perfusion. This effect makes the tumor the path of least resistance, enhancing targeted uptake. Dr. Berman also explains why tumor-feeding vessels should be less than 5.5 mm in diameter and how the catheter’s design can reduce reflux and create turbulence to help homogenize embolic distribution.
