Segment 4 of the series Uncovering Philadelphia, where my Cameraman / Associate Producer and I locate, research, and explore a lesser known, quirky, FREE area or attraction in Philadelphia. For our last segment, we decided to check out an underground art hot spot - a deserted graffiti pier, otherwise called Graffiti Pier. Located right off I-95 on East Cumberland Street, it's really easy to access; that is, if you do not expect your traditional pier, swimming with visitors, walking along the water, with parking nearby in a designated lot. You can park in one of the local businesses' lots, and from there, you walk on a gravel road until you see giant concrete walls covered in different forms of graffiti. I guarantee you will smell fresh paint fumes as you approach. It's so different from the other types of art you see around the city - such as the famous murals throughout Philly. You can see the skyline, but you feel like you're in a skate park or in a dance-off style movie where people are going to jump out and break dance - Graffiti Pier is that cool. Don't take my word for it, watch our video, and see if you'll check out this abandoned, desolate, art covered pier in Philadelphia!
