00:00 Intro 01:06 The river 01:29 Cliff walk 02:33 History Update 04:23 River diversion 04:38 Tunnel 06:00 Dickey Flat The Crown Tramway Track showcases beautiful scenery, good swimming holes and interesting mine relics. It passes the remains of the extensive Karangahake Mines, with optional short side trips to view tunnels. Further up the Crown Tramway Track follows a pipeline and other relics from the gold mining days and includes a 200 metre tunnel that you have to go through and at least four swing bridges. I followed the Crown Tramway Track up to Dickey Flat, a popular DOC campsite and even in mid winter, there were campers taking advantage of the basic facilities. On my return trip I looped around the Dubbo 96 Track before joining the Country Road Track then back to the start. The track is suitable for walking, not riding and it's recommended you stick to the track due to the number of hidden mine shafts. I started at the Karangahake Reserve car park however you can also drive to Dickey Flat and enter the track from that direction.
