In this video, I take a look at two recent Blue Note Classic titles, both originally released in 1975. These are both my second titles from these artists. For Donald Byrd, I had started with the Blue Note 80 release Ethiopian Nights and for Bobbi Humphrey the iconic Blacks and Blues, also from the 80 series.Both the new reissues were produced by Larry Mizell who also wrote some of the material on each. The result is a different, contemporary sound that fully evokes the 70's. I found it to be a refreshing change from the core Blue Note catalog, and an inspired direction for the Classic series.
