Why does every attempt at “Hindu unity” seem to create more friction than harmony? In this monologue, we examine the recurring failure of political Hindu unity projects—from Nehruvian secular homogenization to Savarkarite exclusion and the RSS call for “Roti-Beti vyavahar.” Drawing on systems theory, management science, and the concept of “shared intentionality,” we argue that the problem isn’t a lack of emotion or slogans—it’s a failure of coordination architecture. Our core thesis is simple: large-scale unity cannot be manufactured through erasure, assimilation, or social engineering. Instead, India historically operated through a far more sophisticated model—what we call **Coherent Pluralism**. This framework, embodied in the Dharmashastras, balanced shared civilizational coherence (orthopraxy, samskaras, meta-law) with embedded pluralism (Sadacara, Deshacara, Kulacara, Adhikara). In this discussion, we explore: Why modern nationalist models mirror the very homogenizing impulses they claim to resist Swami Karpatri Ji’s intellectual critique of the RSS and symbolic authority structures The difference between logical contradiction and contextual divergence The New Zealand Whanganui River example as a case study in applied pluralism How Dharmashastra functioned as a meta-framework for managing civilizational complexity If we define unity as sameness, entropy follows. If we define unity as functional coordination among distinct parts, civilization flourishes. Real unity is not uniformity. It is structured diversity under a coherent meta-framework.
