Located in the county of Herefordshire, and around 12 miles northeast of Hereford, is the town of Bromyard. Geographically, the town is situated in a valley overlooked by the Bromyard Downs to the east. Its first recorded reference dates back to circa 840 AD, where it appears in a charter from Cuthwulf, Bishop of Hereford, who established a monasterium here. At the northern end of the town centre is the Parish Church of St Peter. This dates back to the 12th century, with additions up to the 14th century, and some restoration and repairs in the 19th and 20th centuries. The church is Grade I listed. In 1877 a railway station opened in Bromyard courtesy of the Worcester, Bromyard and Leominster Railway. This formed part of a line between Leominster and the village of Bransford in Worcestershire. The station closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching Cuts, along with over 2,000 stations across Britain in order to, supposedly, encourage road travel. Today, public transport to Bromyard consists of direct buses from Hereford, Worcester and various other nearby locations. 👇 SUBSCRIBE TO 4K EXPLORER FOR NEW VIDEOS EVERY WEEK 👇 https://www.youtube.com/4KExplorer?su...
