Azerbaijani music concert in Roudakil Hall in 1992 Maestro Nasrollah Nasehpour: Vocals in the Azerbaijani language Maestro Habil Aliyev: Azerbaijani kamancha Peyman Nasehpour: tonbak / nasrollah.nasehpour.fanpage Performed in Chahargah (Çahargah) mugam Maestro Habil Aliyev (in Azerbaijani, Habil Əliyev), one of the great masters of Azerbaijani classical music, was born on May 28, 1927, in Agdash, Republic of Azerbaijan. His first concert was relayed on TV in 1961. He played "Segah" with a new style of performing and technique, which caused a great reflection among the admirers of Azerbaijani mugam music. He began to extend his creative research every day. He gave a new life to many mugams (Azerbaijani modal system). In 1952, he entered the kamancha (Azerbaijani spike fiddle) Department of Musical School after A. Zeynalli. Lately, he worked at the Philharmonic Society in Baku, Azerbaijan. He has been to more than 60 foreign countries, promoting Azerbaijani classical music. He also became a famous accompanist. To sound every mugam in its own language, to protect its united spirit, and to stress the individuality of all the components of the music is one of his splendid efforts. He passed away on 8 September 2015 at the age of 88. -- A recognized master of the vocal radif repertoire of Persian art music, Maestro Nasrollah Nassehpour, was born in Ardebil, Iran, in 1940. Since his father, the late Agha Shakour, was Garman (Azerbaijani organ similar to European accordion) player and his mother, the late Huriyeh Khanum was an Azeri dayereh (also known as ghaval, Azerbaijani frame drum) player, he was acquainted with Azerbaijani music through his childhood. When he moved to Tehran, he studied vocal radif with the late Maestro Mahmoud Karimi for many years. He also studied instrumental radif repertoire of Persian art music at the National Music Institute with the late Maestro Ali Akbar Khan Shahnazi (a very skillful tar player). In the class of the late Maestro Soleiman Amir Ghasemi (vocalist), he got in touch with the late Maestro Saeed Hormozi (a very skillful setar player) and he learned many important points of Persian art music. At last, he worked with the great master of vocal radif repertoire, the late Maestro Abdollah Davami, who had a great influence on his musical development. The unique timbre of Ostad Nasehpour's vocals, which has coupled with his creative talent and rich Azerbaijani musical background, makes him an outstanding performer. He has researched, taught, and performed for about 50 years and has nearly trained 4000 students. Some of those students are famous vocalists in Iran and abroad. As a member of the chief committee board for the biggest Iranian NGO of music, i.e., Iran House of Music, he was socially very active in defending the rights of musicians and also promoting Persian classical music for several years. Also as a professor at the Art University of Tehran, his books on the old theoretical music of Persia were published by the Iranian Academy of the Arts Publication. -- Dr. Peyman Nasehpour, tonbak, ghaval, and daf player, tabla researcher, having a Ph.D. in mathematics and the oldest child of maestro Nasrollah Nasehpoor (vocalist and master of radif repertoire of Persian art music), was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1974. In his family, he was acquainted with Azerbaijani and Persian art music. After finishing the Child Music Course with Mr. Mohammad Reza Darvishi (researcher of Persian regional music), he started learning tonbak at the early age of nine. He was very fortunate to be able to receive his training in tonbak (Persian goblet drum) with the late maestro Nasser Farhangfar, in ghaval (Azerbaijani frame drum) with maestro Latif Tahmasebi-zadeh, in daf (Kurdish frame drum) with maestro Mirza Agha Ghosi and in theoretical old Persian music (Ta'lif-e-Negham & Igha') with Prof. Seyyed Abdollah Anwar. He has been researching the Indian tabla since 1997. After obtaining his master's degree in mathematics, he moved to Germany to do his Ph.D. in pure mathematics under the supervision of Prof. Winfried Bruns and defended his Ph.D. thesis on Jan 27th, 2011. These cultural streams have combined with his academic mathematical studies and careful thought to create a very good drummer. He began his musical career as a soloist, an accompanist, and a teacher when he was 17. He is proud of sharing the performances with his father and brothers as well as the other great musicians such as maestro Habil Aliev (Azerbaijani kamancheh), maestro Mohammad Reza Lotfi (Persian tar, setar, kamancheh, and radif), maestro Hassan Nahid (ney), Massoud Shaari (setar), Majid Derakhshani (tar), maestro Peter Giger (Jazz drummer), Elshan Mansurov (Azerbaijani kamancheh), Gitti Khosravi (opera singer) and Gevorg Dabaghyan (duduk).
