The Financial Institutions and Markets Act, Act No. 2 of 2021, commonly known as FIMA, regulates Namibia’s non-banking financial sector under the supervision of NAMFISA. In this interview the focus is on Chapter 5 of FIMA, which deals with Retirement and Pension Funds, particularly a directive issued by the Minister of Finance on the implementation of this chapter. The Minister has provided clarity on the way forward, including the position on retirement benefit preservation regulations.
