Using split time on the Water Rower to drive more power in from your fitness journey. How to use Split Time on the Water Rower at Orangetheory Fitness Parker. In 2018 we are focused on making the most of the Water Rower in the Orangetheory workout. We are going to be putting, even more, focus on form and generating power. To achieve these goals we are first transforming how we look at measuring power. In the past we have used Watts or Miles Per Hour and moving forward in 2018 we will use Split Time. What is Split Time? Split time is simply the average amount of time it takes you to complete 500 meters of rowing. The lower the number goes, the more power you are generating. We will look at this number to help you find your base pace on the rower. Base pace is found by rowing at a rate that gets your heart rate up into the Green Zone. Something you could maintain for 10 minutes. Once you know what that number is, decreasing your split time is your objective when you go into Push pace and even more of a decrease when you move to All Out.
