Damage Grave Restoration That Left Us All Baffled!

We love restoring local history and its heritage! Since the damaged grave restoration and the mystery urn that baffled us, here is the latest update on the history of the Garnett Grave. Garnett Grave A12 owner John Garnett of Hazel Bank Bradford. Burial records and inscription show the following buried. William Garnett 27 years buried 30-04-1919. John Garnett aged 74 years buried 21-05-1937. Clara Novello Garnett aged 80 yrs buried 21-09-1945. John and Clara Garnett had a daughter Emily who married a George Green Hopkinson in 1921. The Urn found within the grave and from the inscription, the following has been established. Emily Hopkinson nee Garnett born 1896 died 1953. Susan Hopkinson buried 11-07-1960 in Grave A2. The connection to the grave is that Emily Hopkinson nee Garnett had a son Richard Garnett Hopkinson who married Christine Margaret Pearson in 1957. Their daughter Susan had died a few hours after birth.
