'Texas DOGE' reaches out to Waste Watch after KFDM's report

The director of the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO) Jerome Greener has responded to KFDM's questions about the new agency that many in Austin refer to as "Texas DOGE." "The Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO) was launched in October 2025 under Senate Bill 14 to optimize Texas’ regulatory framework and increase economic prosperity in our state. While federal DOGE identified waste and fraud at the federal level, TREO's focus is the permanent reduction of the more than 20-million-words within the Texas Administrative Code. This requires heavy attention to each of the 44,000 regulations currently administered in Texas to ensure we maximize Texans’ freedom, safety and prosperity," Greener said.
