West Coast Bass n Sharks | Part: One | Lure fishing for Bass

Bass are held in high regard by many sea anglers and in many parts of the UK they can be found in good numbers and their habits can be fairly predictable. However, on Scotland’s west coast they can be much more of an enigma, and it often takes a lot of time and effort to even begin to understand the habits of these elusive, yet highly prized fish. Given our fairly limited experience of targeting Bass, we’ve acknowledged that a little more time needs to be dedicated to them and a little more exploring has to be done. Yes, we’ve had Bass in the past, but results have been patchy, and we’ve found ourselves relying on just one or two areas. Part one of our bid to improve our local Bass knowledge sees us with our work cut out, with less than ideal conditions. Nevertheless, a chance to explore and recce should never be turned down, as you just never know. With plans already made for the following week, our Bass explorations will continue in part 2, before we turn our attentions to something a little toothier.
