Step aboard an Australian naval legend right on the East Shores waterfront in Gladstone! HMAS Gladstone (FCPB 216) is a former Royal Australian Navy Fremantle-class patrol boat, lovingly restored and preserved as a museum ship that tells the story of life at sea and Australia’s maritime defence.  🔧 History & Construction: Built by North Queensland Engineers & Agents (NQEA) in Cairns and launched on 28 July 1984, HMAS Gladstone served the RAN for over 22 years before being decommissioned in March 2007. During her service she patrolled Australian waters, enforcing fisheries law, border security and maritime protection duties.  🛠️ What Makes Her Special: • 42 m patrol boat designed for speed and endurance — capable of 30 knots and long-range missions.  • Nicknamed “Sadrock” by her crew.  • Crew was granted Freedom of the City of Gladstone three times — a rare civic honour!  📚 Museum Experience: Nowadays she’s anchored in the scenic East Shores Marina Precinct, where you can wander through the decks, peep into the galley, explore the engine room, and imagine life as a sailor aboard this hardworking vessel.
