Mumbai Fruit & Vegetable Trade Hit As West Asia Conflict Halts Exports | FPJ Ground Report

The ongoing West Asia conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has begun impacting Mumbai’s fruit and vegetable trade. Nearly 1,000 export containers carrying bananas, grapes, onions, watermelon and muskmelon are currently stranded at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) near Mumbai after shipping lines suspended services to the Middle East. As exports remain halted, the impact is now visible in Mumbai’s wholesale markets. Traders at Sant Gadge Maharaj Mandai in Byculla say prices have fallen and customers from the hotel industry have reduced, leaving traders with unsold stock. FPJ visited the market and spoke to fruit and vegetable suppliers to understand how the global conflict is affecting local traders in Mumbai.
