Applied Advaita / Sat-Chit-Ananda --- Life-Awareness-Fullness. In the traditions of Hinduism and Yoga, it is explained that God, Brahma, has three aspects: Sat, Chit, and Ananda, which represent, respectively, the Feeling of Being, Perception (Consciousness), and Fullness (Bliss). Although they are presented as three, they are in reality an indivisible unity — one could, for example, call that unity “the Supreme.” This idea is, in some ways, reminiscent of the Christian doctrine of the Trinity: three persons in one. Sat, which means “Being” or “Life,” points to impersonal existence — the living essence of every organism — Life without an "I," present from birth even before illusory identities were formed. It is present until the death of the organism, when Life simply withdraws from the it. This Life, which may also be pointed to with the words “being,” or beingness" is concrete and tangible in the human experience; it is not an abstraction, but the Fundamental Reality that sustains all forms. This is why death occurs immediately when Life withdraws from the physical body. To connect with Sat (to give attention to your sense of being) within your own human experience is to connect with your True Nature — the Life that was already present when you were a baby, before false identifications and your personal story began to form . The lotus flower symbolizes Awakening: the rising from the mud of human identifications into the freedom of your Divine Nature. The Tree of Life represents Sat — Life without an "I." Life, the sense of being, is always present, and by giving It attention you reconnect with what you truly are, leaving behind the illusions of identity. Inherent to Life (Sat) is Chit — call it Consciousness, Perception, or Observation. It is the perception of the environment that surrounds you, as well as the perception or observation of your thoughts and feelings. Consciousness is inherent to Life. Finally, Ananda means Bliss — the sense of "Fullness," again, inherent to Life (Sat), a feeling of being complete that does not depend on external conditions. Ananda is the inner "feeling" that nothing is missing, and it manifests when you give attention to Life (Sat) and/or Consciousness (Chit). The practical value of these principles is immeasurable, because they have direct application in our everyday experience. For example, by following the pointer “Life, here” — by closing your eyes, or even without closing them — you can feel Life, being, beingness, and then, you'll notice Ananda beginning to arise automatically. This practice is not philosophy, but a practical way of connecting with your True Nature, gradually freeing yourself from the illusions created by identification with the body, the mind, and the abstraction of a personal “I.” Awakening is the first clear seeing that in the human organism there isn't an "I" — except as an idea, an abstraction. This first realization is like throwing a snowball down a mountain. As it rolls, it grows larger, eventually becoming an avalanche — an avalanche of insights that dissolve the illusion. The practice of meditating on the "Sense of Being" allows you to experience Life without an I (Sat), and with this, Ananda arrives inevitably and automatically, since Fullness is inherent to Life. Awakening — seeing that the self is a story and not real — greatly facilitates the understanding of all these truths related to Divinity. Therefore, pursue Awakening with earnestness!
