Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan, we're going to install part number C11282, from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. Next we'll give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a bicycle rack or cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be about 10 3/4 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will be about 6 1/2 inches. Now we'll show you how the hitch is installed. First we'll show you where your hitch mounts up on the frame. We'll be looking on the passenger side for now. The hitch will use this preexisting hole here and this one here. We'll have to install hardware inside the frame and we'll use this hole here as our access hole to install hardware. We'll take a look at the driver's side, which will pretty much be the same thing. This hole here and this hole here, and our access hole right here as well. Typically your next step would be to lower our exhaust to give you some more work room. In this case, I think we don't really need to take that down, because we have plenty of working room, in fact, we'll use the exhaust to our advantage. This is the hardware we'll have to install inside the frame. It will be this block, and the carriage bolt that fits together. This will be installed inside the frame and out the frame. The hitch will go up to it and then the flange nut on the bottom. This hardware is generally going to be the same on all four bolts for the hitch. At this point, let's start working with our hardware to put it inside the frame. We're going to need to use a bolt leader that comes with the kit. We'll run this through the hole we're going to use and then out the access hole, to this one right here. We'll take our block and thread it through, and push it into the frame. Then we'll take our bolt and thread it into place as well. Push it inside the frame and pull it out. Do the same thing for this hole here. We're done with our passenger side for now. We'll do the same thing on the driver's side. Okay, our hardware's in place, we can start to install our hitch now. We'll take the driver's side and put it on top of our exhaust. That will hold it in place for us while we do the other side. That's why we left our exhaust up this time and using it to our advantage. Then we'll go to our passenger side, we'll push it into place. When you push it up, make sure you don't push the other bolts in as well, so that's why it's kind of easy to do one side at a time. The hitch doesn't go all that far past the exhaust, so you're going to keep that in mind as you hold it up. Work it into place, you can pinch the bolts to one side to help hold it in place so you can install the nut, which ever way works best. We have all our hardware loosely installed, we'll take a moment and we're going to free play, we'll try to center it up. I like to try to center it up with the frame, but you can also optionally center it up with the center of the vehicle, maybe using the emblem for a center point. Now to tighten down the hardware, you'll need an 11/16th socket. Once the bolts have tightened down, we'll torque them down as described in the instructions. You'll notice there is quite an angle with the exhaust in the way, so we're using a wobble extension to get up there. You could also probably get away by using a swivel, although it would be a tight spot. Also, you can also pry it over as you tighten it over as well too. That's all it takes to install our hitch. That will finish it for part number C11282 from Curt, their trailer hitch receiver custom fit, class one on our 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. .
